Code United are free* coding & theatre camps organised during the schools holidays for children aged 8 to 12 in different cities across the country.

Code United combines code and improvisation so that children learn to express themselves online and offline as well as develop future skills, all while having fun.

A workhop on digital citizenship is also organised.

*We are asking for a deposit of 25€ to reserve the spots. This deposit is reimbursed at the end of the camp if the child came everyday, or justified their absence with a medical certificate.

Why coding?

  • To develop valuable skills

Giving young children digital knowledge is giving them the opportunity to pursue any career they want today and in the future.

  • To nurture creativity

Learning to code at a young age can help foster critical thinking, collaboration, problem solving and creativity. All essential to build the world of tomorrow.

  • To open new doors to girls

Introducing young girls to technology before gender stereotypes start setting in can help them feel empowered and give them alternative role models they can aspire to.

Why theater?

  • To boost self-confidence

Boosting self-confidence gets your kid ready for life’s events. We’re more inclined to move forward when we’re confident. It also helps them try again in case things don’t work out at first.

  • To open up to others

In a world where life isn’t always easy, opening up to others helps you get problems off your chest and it can alleviate the weight off your shoulders. It can also show you the way to solve the issue.

  • To improve stress management

Learning to manage stress can beneficial for both emotional and mental health. You’re taught how to better handle challenges life will give you.

How does it work?

Children from all socio-economic backgrounds are invited to participate in the programme. Thanks to the generosity of our partners and the shareholders of BeCentral, we managed to raise an initial funding to offer camps to the first 1000 kids. However, our dream is to make this a recurrent initiative, and we need your support to make this happen.

Help us prepare the children of today to become the makers of tomorrow.

How was Code United born?

The idea saw the light of day in November 2020. Imagined initially as a way to thank hospital caregivers during the covid-19 pandemic, the initiative started when we welcomed 120 children from the nursing staff of Brussels hospitals at BeCentral. By the end of 2022, we will have given 1000 kids throughout the country the possibility to learn to code, something they currently do not learn in primary school, but that should not be limited to a happy fews.

With the acceleration of digitalisation caused by the covid-19 pandemic, many found themselves socially and economically disadvantaged as they lacked access to technology. Code United is a coding camp developed by the BeCentral Foundation in order to give all children the possibility to benefit from the opportunities of the digital era.

Together, we can empower the citizens of tomorrow to become actors of the digital future.
